MAYAN’s journey through the world of music is as diverse as it is inspiring. Growing up in Lisbon surrounded by musicians, she experienced early on the deep bond that music can create. This connection fuels her enduring passion to share music as a means to bring people together.
Championing Inclusion and Empowerment
In early 2023, MAYAN introduced the Female Pressure project to Portugal, a global community advocating for equity in electronic music since 1998. Her tireless work has helped raise awareness and foster diversity in Portugal’s music industry.
As a mentor for Keychange (UK) and a collaborator with shesaidso Portugal, MAYAN guides and inspires emerging artists. Her advocacy is a beacon of hope for those seeking inclusion and equality in the arts.
Career Highlights
In October 2024, MAYAN reached a new milestone in her career, opening for the renowned band MEUTE at the iconic Coliseu de Lisboa and Coliseu do Porto. These performances marked a significant step in her journey, showcasing her talent to a wider audience and solidifying her reputation as a leading force in electronic music.
From Berlin to Lisbon: A Journey of Growth
The summer of 2023 marked a transformative chapter when MAYAN moved to Berlin to pursue advanced studies in sound design at the iconic Funkhaus Studios. Her electrifying sets at legendary venues such as Renate, Golden Gate, and Ritter Butzke cemented her place in Berlin’s vibrant music scene.
Upon returning to Lisbon, she embarked on a new academic path, enrolling in the Sound Arts and Technology Master’s Program at ESMAE, Portugal’s leading public music school. Now living between Lisbon and Porto, MAYAN continues to draw inspiration from Portugal’s dynamic creative culture.
